Since its inception in 1922, the practice of reiki has evolved through various forms.
I am often asked what is the difference between Japanese and Western style Reiki?
My answer is the approach to treatment is different.
Energy is indeed universal however
I believe the approach to treatment from the western perspective is through a place of lack.
Western Reiki teaches what is missing or what the client is not integrating.
Japanese Reiki doesn't stress this.
Which is probably why I'm often confused when people ask "what is wrong with my energy or when should I schedule my next appointment?"
The idea that something is wrong or that there is lack diminishes the opportunity for healing.
Personally I don't tell clients they should come back or they need to do more sessions.
If they wish to return I welcome them with open arms but please know that
I treat from a place of wholeness.
I don't see a lack in an energetic field, an imbalance maybe but never what is missing.
My approach is to accept everything.
Honor all things.
Illness and stress are simply blessings in disguise, for they teach us what we are holding onto.
I share that I follow the basic teaching of Reiki - just for today, Be present.
Be patient with yourself and others...
So Just for Today, honor your body, mind and spirit.
Accept what your emotions are teaching you.
Know that healing is an awe inspiring journey.
And when we learn to heal ourselves we restore our power to help others....
